Hand-Picked Voyages & Resources | Wavebound Travel

Finding the right cruise is a bit like finding the perfect home—it has to fit your style, your pace, and your wishlist. My job is to take the guesswork out of the process. While I handle the deep-dive research and logistics to make your trip seamless, I know that half the fun is the 'dreaming' phase.

Below, I’ve gathered resources from some of my favorite partners to help you start visualizing your time at sea. Don’t see a specific line you’re curious about? This is just the tip of the iceberg! I work with nearly every major ocean, river, and expedition line worldwide, and I’m ready to help you navigate any of them.

Start Your Story: Our Featured Partners

American Cruise Lines

American Cruise Lines

American Cruise Lines

Type: River (U.S.) & Coastal

Vibe:  Sophisticated, Intimate, and Historically Focused

Price Range:  Luxury

Brief Overview:   American Cruise Lines is the leader in domestic US cruising, operating the newest fleet of small ships, modern riverboats, and paddlewheelers. They specialize in "Close-to-Home" itineraries, exploring the Mississippi River, the Pacific Northwest, and the Atlantic Coastline. With ships typically carrying only 100 to 180 guests, the atmosphere is refined, spacious, and geared toward intellectual discovery. The focus is on American heritage, featuring local historians and regional cuisine. The onboard experience is curated for a mature, culturally curious audience; as such, the ships do not feature the youth-oriented amenities or high-energy programming found on larger ocean vessels, making them best suited for adult travelers seeking a quiet and contemplative journey.

Consultant’s Note:   This line is my top recommendation for American history enthusiasts and those seeking a quiet, enriched environment. If you are a fan of the Revolutionary War, their Chesapeake Bay itineraries are unmatched. For those interested in the westward expansion and the journey of Lewis and Clark, I advise focusing on the Columbia and Snake River routes. My role is to help you select the specific regional sailing that aligns with your historical or cultural interests, ensuring your voyage feels like a living history lesson.

Celebrity Cruises

American Cruise Lines

American Cruise Lines

Type:  Ocean, Expedition & River (Launching 2027)

Vibe: Sophisticated, Design-Centric, and "Relaxed Luxury"

Price Range: Premium

Brief Overview:  Celebrity Cruises occupies the "sweet spot" of the industry, offering a resort-style experience that is more upscale than mass-market lines but more accessible than ultra-luxury brands.  For those seeking an elevated tier of service, The Retreat offers an exclusive "ship-within-a-ship" experience. This luxury enclave provides suite guests with a private restaurant (Luminae), a dedicated lounge, and a secluded sundeck, all managed by a team of pre-arrival concierges and onboard attendants. Following their success on the ocean, they have now expanded into the European river market. Their new river fleet is designed to replicate the "Edge Class" aesthetic.

Consultant’s Note:   I recommend Celebrity for the design-conscious traveler who appreciates fine art and modern culinary trends. For the ultimate "Retreat" experience, their Galápagos Expedition itineraries are bucket-list adventures that provide rare wildlife access without sacrificing luxury. For a more relaxed European summer, I advise their Edge-class Mediterranean sailings, which are specifically designed to bring the outside in with their unique "Infinite Verandas."

Disney Cruise Line

American Cruise Lines

Disney Cruise Line

Type: Ocean

Vibe:  Family-Centric with Sophisticated Adult Escapes

Price Range: Premium

Overview:  Disney Cruise Line is the gold standard for multi-generational travel, combining legendary storytelling with a surprisingly high level of service and sophistication. While famous for its immersive character experiences and Broadway-caliber entertainment, the line is equally respected for its "functional luxury"—specifically their signature split-bathroom staterooms designed for families. A key differentiator is their Rotational Dining system, where your dedicated service team follows you to a different themed restaurant each night, ensuring a personalized experience rarely found on ships of this size. Despite the family focus, Disney dedicates significant square footage to adult-only "sanctuaries," including upscale dining (Palo and Remy), private pool decks, and sophisticated lounges.

Consultant’s Note:  While often associated with characters, I advise clients that Disney is secretly one of the best lines for high-end dining and service. For families, their Western Caribbean routes featuring the private island, Castaway Cay, are the gold standard. For adults traveling without children, I recommend their Transatlantic or Northern Europe sailings, where the dedicated adult-only "sanctuaries" are most serene and provide a sophisticated, boutique-hotel feel.

Explora Journeys

Norwegian Cruise Line

Disney Cruise Line

Type: Ocean (Supertall Yacht Aesthetic)

Vibe: "Ocean State of Mind"—Sophisticated, Cosmopolitan, and Relaxed Luxury

Price Range: Ultra-Luxury

Overview: Explora Journeys is a new entrant in the ultra-luxury sector, designed specifically to bridge the gap between a high-end boutique hotel and a private yacht experience. Eschewing traditional cruise tropes, there are no "Main Dining Rooms" or formal nights. Instead, you’ll find six distinct, world-class restaurants and a "Casual Chic" dress code that reflects a modern European sensibility. With 461 ocean-front suites (all with private terraces), the line boasts one of the highest space-to-guest ratios in the industry. Their ships are designed with a focus on wellness and "slow travel," often featuring longer stays in port and non-traditional arrival/departure times.

Consultant’s Note: Explora offers one of the most comprehensive "all-inclusive" packages in the luxury market, covering all dining, fine wines, premium spirits, gratuities, and high-speed Wi-Fi. This creates a "clean" budget with very few variables. However, because they are a newer brand, they often run aggressive "Early Booking" incentives. I monitor these closely for my clients, as booking 12–18 months out often yields significantly higher value than waiting for last-minute luxury inventory.

MSC Cruises

Norwegian Cruise Line

Norwegian Cruise Line

Type: Ocean

Vibe: International, Modern, and Style-Forward

Price Range: Value to Luxury (Yacht Club)

Brief Overview: MSC Cruises brings a sophisticated European flair to the global market, featuring some of the most beautiful and modern ship designs in the world (famously featuring Swarovski crystal staircases). They are leaders in value, frequently offering competitive pricing and "Kids Sail Free" promotions on their high-tech fleet. A standout feature of their Caribbean itineraries is Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve—a private island in the Bahamas focused on ecological restoration. Unlike typical "water park" islands, Ocean Cay offers eight pristine beaches, a sheltered lagoon, and a marine conservation center, providing a tranquil and authentic Bahamian experience.

Consultant’s Note: MSC is an incredible value play, but the experience varies significantly by "Level." I guide my clients through the nuances of their "Experience" tiers (Bella, Fantastica, and Aurea) to ensure you book the level of flexibility you need. Additionally, for those seeking seclusion, I highly recommend the MSC Yacht Club; it provides an exclusive beach area and private clubhouse on Ocean Cay, allowing you to maintain a luxury "bubble" from ship to shore.

Norwegian Cruise Line

Norwegian Cruise Line

Norwegian Cruise Line

Type: Ocean

Vibe: Freestyle, High-Energy, and Choice-Driven

Price Range: Value to Luxury (The Haven)

Brief Overview:  Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) revolutionized the industry with "Freestyle Cruising," a philosophy that eliminated fixed dining times and formal dress codes in favor of total guest flexibility. Their modern fleet is known for "The Waterfront"—an industry-first open-air promenade lined with bars and restaurants—and high-octane amenities like multi-story go-kart tracks and Broadway-caliber theater. For travelers seeking an elevated experience, NCL offers The Haven, an ultra-exclusive "ship-within-a-ship" enclave featuring the line’s most luxurious suites, a private pool deck, and a dedicated 24-hour butler service.

Consultant’s Note:   NCL is for the traveler who values choice above all else. If you want a different specialty restaurant every night, their Prima-class ships are my top recommendation. For nature lovers, NCL’s Hawaii (Pride of America) itinerary is the only one in the industry that sails round-trip from Honolulu, offering maximum time on the islands. I advise you on which ship class provides the specific "Freestyle" amenities that fit your lifestyle.

Princess Cruises

Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection

Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection

Type: Ocean

Vibe:  Classic, Refined, and Destination-Focused

Price Range:  Premium

Brief Overview:  Often called the "Consummate Host," Princess Cruises specializes in a traditional, elegant cruising experience with a heavy emphasis on world-class destinations, particularly in Alaska and Europe. They are pioneers in wearable technology with their MedallionClass® experience—a quarter-sized device that enables touchless boarding, on-demand food/drink delivery to anywhere on the ship, and keyless stateroom entry. Princess strikes a sophisticated balance, offering high-end dining and enrichment programs while maintaining a comfortable, mid-sized ship feel that avoids the "mega-ship" frenzy.

Consultant’s Note:   Princess remains the undisputed leader for Alaska and the Panama Canal. If your dream is to see glaciers up close, I advise their Voyage of the Glaciers route, which includes more "glacier days" than most competitors. For those interested in classic British style or Mediterranean history, their Grand Mediterranean itineraries provide a reliable, refined home base for exploring ancient world wonders.

Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection

Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection

Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection

Type: Ocean

Vibe: Ultra-Luxury, Residential, and Effortlessly Elegant

Price Range:  Ultra-Luxury

Brief Overview:  This collection blurs the line between a cruise ship and a private superyacht. With one of the highest staff-to-guest ratios in the industry, the experience is defined by the legendary service for which Ritz-Carlton is known. The yachts (Evrima, Ilma, and Luminara) feature all-terrace suites, an open-air "Marina" for direct access to the sea, and a relaxed, unhurried pace. Unlike traditional lines, there are no set dining times or assigned tables—instead, you’ll find a curated selection of intimate restaurants, including specialty dining designed by Michelin-starred chefs.

Consultant’s Note:  I recommend the Yacht Collection for travelers who prioritize privacy and a "resort at sea" atmosphere over traditional cruise activities. If your interest lies in exclusive, yacht-heavy ports like St. Barts or the Amalfi Coast, these vessels are my top choice because their small size allows them to anchor in the heart of the action. I advise clients to focus on their Caribbean "Yachting" itineraries, which bypass the crowded commercial ports in favor of secluded bays and private beaches. My role is to help you determine if the "Residential" style of this line matches your desire for a quiet, high-service sanctuary.

Royal Caribbean International

Ritz-Carlton Yacht Collection

Royal Caribbean International

Type: Ocean

Vibe: High-Energy, Innovative, and Adventure-Driven

Price Range: Premium (Mid-Range on older vessels)

Brief Overview: Royal Caribbean is the industry leader in "firsts at sea," specializing in massive, technologically advanced ships that serve as floating destinations. Their Oasis and Icon-class vessels are designed with unique "neighborhoods," allowing for a sense of discovery even on a ship with 7,000 passengers. From surfing simulators and rock-climbing walls to Broadway-caliber theater and high-diving shows, this line is designed for active families, tweens, and teens who demand constant variety. While the scale is large, the planning is precise, offering one of the most robust digital "Cruise Planner" systems for managing your onboard experience before you even leave home.

Consultant’s Note:   This is the premier choice for active travelers and multi-generational groups who want variety. I recommend their Perfect Day at CocoCay itineraries for those who want a high-energy "resort" experience. If your interest lies in cutting-edge tech and entertainment, I advise looking toward their Icon-class ships. My goal is to match your family's specific energy level—whether that’s a "thrill-seeking" week or a more relaxed cruise on one of their smaller, traditional vessels.

Silversea

Royal Caribbean International

Type: Ocean & Expedition

Vibe: Ultra-Luxury, All-Inclusive, and Intimate

Price Range:  Ultra-Luxury

Brief Overview:  Silversea is the benchmark for ultra-luxury cruising, featuring smaller, all-suite ships that can navigate into secluded ports inaccessible to larger vessels. Their service model is legendary, boasting nearly a 1:1 guest-to-staff ratio and Butler service for every suite. Their "S.A.L.T." (Sea and Land Taste) culinary program is a standout, integrating the flavors and traditions of the destination into the onboard dining experience. Beyond classic luxury, Silversea is a leader in high-end Expedition cruising, taking guests to the most remote corners of the globe (Antarctica, the Galápagos, and the Arctic) without sacrificing five-star comfort.

Consultant’s Note:   This is for the traveler seeking total personalization and ultra-luxury. If you are an adventurer at heart, I recommend their Antarctica Expedition voyages for the highest level of comfort in the most extreme environment on earth. For a more "classic" luxury experience, I advise their Southeast Asia itineraries, where their S.A.L.T. program allows you to explore the complex flavors of the region directly from your ship.

Virgin Voyages

Type: Ocean

Vibe: Strictly Adult (18+), High-Energy, and "Rebellious Luxury"

Price Range: Premium

Brief Overview: Virgin Voyages has disrupted the traditional cruise model by removing buffets, formal nights, and all passengers under the age of 18. The result is a boutique-hotel atmosphere at sea with a heavy emphasis on world-class culinary programs, wellness, and "festival-style" entertainment. While their core model includes many essentials—such as all 20+ specialty eateries, basic beverages (soda, water, coffee), and Wi-F—they have recently introduced a tiered service model. This adds a layer of complexity for travelers choosing between standard cabins and various levels of "RockStar" or "Luxe" status, which offer enhanced perks and priority access to onboard events.

Consultant’s Note:  This line is ideal for foodies and social travelers who want a luxury experience without the stuffiness of traditional cruising. If you value nightlife and unique entertainment, their Miami-based Caribbean "short-stays" are perfect. For those interested in a "slow-travel" vibe with no kids in sight, I recommend their Greek Island Glow itineraries, which feature late-night stays in port to allow for a true immersion in local culture.

Viking

Type: River, Ocean & Expedition

Vibe: Strictly Adult (18+),  "The Thinking Person’s Cruise"—Quiet, Intellectual, and Residential

Price Range: Luxury

Brief Overview:  Viking has redefined the modern travel experience by focusing on "the destination, not the distractions." Across their entire fleet—Longships, Ocean ships, and Expedition vessels—they maintain a "no-frills luxury" model: no casinos, no photographers, and no children under 18. Their Ocean vessels are small enough to dock in ports where larger ships cannot, while their Expedition ships are built specifically to navigate remote regions like Antarctica and the Arctic. A standout in their portfolio is their Great Lakes expedition program, which uses purpose-built "Polar Class" ships to explore North America’s inland seas, featuring an onboard laboratory and a team of world-class scientists.

Consultant’s Note:  I recommend Viking for travelers who value intellectual growth and cultural immersion over traditional onboard "spectacle." For those interested in North American natural history, their Great Lakes Collection is an exceptional choice, offering a rare look at the UNESCO Biosphere Reserves of Lake Huron and Lake Superior. If your interest lies in classical history, I advise focusing on their Mediterranean Antiquities ocean routes. My goal is to help you select the specific water—river, ocean, or inland lake—that provides the best "classroom" for your personal curiosities.
